Pune: Choosing Gold, the debut memoir by PNG Jewellers Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Saurabh Gadgil, has been released nationally by Penguin Random House India.
The book offers a personal account of the experiences, decisions and values that shaped the journey of a sixth-generation jeweller leading one of India’s oldest business legacies.
Released by Penguin Random House India, Choosing Gold reflects on Dr. Gadgil’s journey after inheriting the leadership of PNG Jewellers in his mid-thirties.
The memoir presents his reflections on personal growth, difficult choices, family influences and leadership, drawing from nearly three decades of experience while leading the 194-year-old jewellery brand.
Rather than focusing only on business milestones, Choosing Gold traces the defining moments that shaped Dr. Gadgil’s outlook.
It revisits conversations with his grandfather and mother, lessons that became meaningful over time, and decisions that tested his conviction before proving their value.
While the long legacy of PNG Jewellers forms the backdrop, the memoir centres on the author’s own journey of balancing heritage with personal conviction.

I wrote this book for every dreamer standing where I once stood, ambitious, uncertain, carrying expectations they never asked for, wondering if they have it in them. I don’t offer them a formula, because there isn’t one, but the truth and first-hand virtues that have traced me to where I am today … something that balance sheets won’t ever reflect.
